Getting to Know 3 Natural Ingredients for Deep Detox: Neem, Spirulina, and Tulsi

Neem

Neem (Azadirachta Indica) is a cooling, bitter, and pungent herb. According to ancient Ayurvedic herbal knowledge, the leaves of this ingredient are considered one of the key herbs for purification. Neem is a powerful blood cleanser, aiding in removing toxins and impurities from your bloodstream, which can greatly support overall health.

It is used to remove toxins from your body, including those responsible for inflammatory skin conditions. According to the classic book, The Yoga of Herbs by Vasant and Lad,  Neem can be used to remove parasites from the body and clear away excess and foreign tissues.

This herb is a multifaceted ally for detoxification, one of the ways it encourages this is by supporting liver function. The liver is one of your body’s main detoxification organs. The phytochemistry of Neem includes the compounds nimbidin and nimbin that enhance the activity of detoxification enzymes, which help us to break down and eliminate toxins.

Let’s be honest—detoxing isn’t just a wellness trend anymore. It’s a necessity. From microplastics in your blood to radiation exposure, most people don’t even know they’ve had, your body’s likely carrying things it never asked for.

Holy Basil

This revered ayurvedic herb is also known by the names Tulsi, Tulasi, or its Latin classification Ocimum Sanctum. It is a highly medicinal variety of basil that has a warming and relaxing effect on your body. It truly has a panacea of uses, but in this context, we appreciate Tulsi for its support in detoxification, recovery, and protection from modern pollutants.

Holy Basil increases our body’s levels of antioxidants, which supports detoxification. It assists your body to transform and eliminate toxins by enhancing liver activity. This herb has also been found to help protect and reduce the damage from radiation exposure and even certain pesticides, heavy metals, pharmaceuticals, and industrial chemicals.

Spirulina

Spirulina is a blue-green algae (cyanobacteria), usually referring to specific species within the Arthrospira genus. The use of this superfood by humans can be traced far back to the people of the great Aztec civilisation, who wild harvested and consumed it. Today, it continues to grow in popularity as a superfood and for its amazing healing properties. Aside from the nutritive value of this algae, Spirulina is useful for detoxification.

It is a powerful antioxidant ingredient, meaning it can limit oxidation and minimize the effects of damaging free radicals, which are unstable molecules that can cause cellular damage. You can ingest spirulina as a food or use it as part of detox protocols for improved health.

It also has more specific detoxification benefits for combating toxicity from chemicals or certain drugs. Nephrotoxicity is the toxicity of the kidneys, usually due to poisons and toxic chemicals in medications (including but not limited to antibiotics, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatorydrugs, anticancer agents, immunosuppressants, and even from the prolonged use or misuse of certain stronger plants).

Spirulina is also used for detoxing from heavy metals. In particular, Cadmium, Arsenic, and excess iron, and even radioactivity. It is used as a chelating agent, which can remove these toxins from the body. It also contains high chlorophyll, which has great detoxification properties.

When 3 Ingredients Aren’t Enough to Detox What’s Inside You…

You already know what’s in your body: heavy metals, microplastics, pesticides, radiation. And you saw how just three herbs can start to fight back. But here’s the truth—detoxing today takes more than three ingredients.

The toxins we’re dealing with aren’t the same ones from decades ago. They’re more aggressive, more persistent, and they hit everything—your thyroid, your gut, your brain, even your fat cells. That’s why people struggle with low energy, stubborn weight, and chronic inflammation… no matter how clean they try to eat.

Unless you’re willing to grow, forage, and blend 48 different plants and mushrooms yourself every week… You need a shortcut.

This powdered mix gives your body exactly that. A ready-made combination of detoxifying, fat-burning, inflammation-soothing herbs, roots, algae, and probiotics—all working together to flush out the junk, kickstart your metabolism, and lighten the toxic load.

Don’t keep pushing through fatigue, bloating, or stalled weight.

  • 4g / 0.14oz Holy Basil Powder
  • 4g / 0.14oz Spirulina Powder
  • 4g / 0.14oz Neem Powder
  • 15g / 0.53oz Raw Honey

Please make an effort to source high-quality ingredients. For this recipe, it’s easier to work with powdered herbs, but if the best you can get are whole dry herbs, then grind and sieve them as finely as you can in preparation.

Step by Step

  1. Measure out 4g / 0.14oz of each herb powder. The total weight will be 0.43oz / 12g.
  2. Mix the dry powdered herbs.
  3. Set 2g / 0.07oz of this mix aside for later.
  4. Add in 15g / 0.53oz of raw honey.
  5.  Mix everything into a rollable dough of medium firmness.
  6. Allow this pastille dough to rest for about 1 hour.
  7. After resting, add a small amount of the dry herb mix if needed, and knead the dough again
  8. Get ready to roll out your pastilles.
  9. You should have 25g / 0.88oz  of the dough, section this into 5 even pieces first, and then again into 25 pieces (you can do this by your intuition and sight, or by weighing each piece) 02 making the diy herbal detox pastilles
  10. You should have 25 pieces in total, and can now take some time to improve the shape of each by rolling it on your palm into a small sphere.
  11. Coat each pastille in the dry mix and add them to your jar.
  12. Add the remaining dry herbs mix into your pastille jar.
  13.  Your Detox Pastilles are now ready to use and store.

Please store your pastilles in a cool, dark, and dry place. Try to use them soon after making them for the best effects. Watch the full video for more info and insight into the steps of making this recipe. 03 diy herbal detox pastilles

Take 1 pastille daily for 25 days. For children over 3, omit neem powder completely—it’s too strong for them.

For best results, support your detox with clean eating, hydration, movement, and reduced toxin exposure.

Important: Avoid during pregnancy or if trying to conceive—neem and tulsi may affect fertility. Start with a test dose to check for allergies. If you have serious health issues or take medication, double-check for contraindications.

This Is the Missing Step in Your Detox Routine

You can flush out toxins all day long… but if your gut is still wounded like a battlefield, nothing will stick. Digestion, immunity, energy—they all suffer when your gut lining is left raw and inflamed. And most people don’t realize this is exactly what happens after years of processed foods, chemicals, and half-baked “detoxes.”

Even worse? Most gut supplements are packed with fillers and come from shady suppliers that barely test what goes in the bottle.

If you want real recovery, not just temporary relief, you need the herbs that actually regenerate gut tissue. The ones that soothe, seal, and rebuild your digestive lining from the inside out.

And yes, you can get them—all in one potent tincture made by people who actually know what they’re doing. Have a look here.

There’s gotta be more common items we can use to detox. Couple of these items seem rather exotic and difficult to source.

Neem and holy basil can be sourced from Middle Eastern markets. Or even online, on Etsy and Amazon. Spirulina on Etsy and Amazon. Where there’s a will, there’s always a way.
