Detoxify Heavy Metals from Your Body with This Remedy

Heavy metals like copper, selenium, and zinc, are essential to the body’s metabolism as well as tissue growth, repair, and development. These are called trace minerals. But even trace minerals can cause toxicity in higher concentrations. You can’t altogether avoid exposure to heavy metal pollution. They are everywhere.  Heavy metals are in our water, air, food supply, hygiene products, and medications.  But the biggest problem with metals is that they bioaccumulate, meaning they build up in our bodies over time.

Why Do a Heavy Metal Detox?

So, performing a heavy metal detox occasionally makes a lot of sense.  There are a lot of ways to go about detoxing heavy metals from the body.  You can perform an intricate heavy metal detox protocol, including supplements, diet changes, juices, and smoothies. Alternately, you can be more conscious of how these things build up in your body and perform frequent quick cleanses while avoiding heavy metals as best as possible.  Today, I’ll share an easy heavy metal detox smoothie recipe with you that really works.  I’ll also give you a few pointers if you want to pursue heavy metal detoxing more thoroughly on your own.

Why is it so important? Studies show many chronic health problems can be linked to an overabundance of heavy metals in the body, like:

  • Certain neurological disorders
  • Autoimmune diseases, especially Lyme
  • Skin problems
  • Digestive problems
  • Chronic aches and pains
  • Cognitive and memory problems
  • Sleeping Issues
  • Impaired motor control
  • Anemia

People trying to manage these types of disorders may need more guidance for detoxing heavy metals and should probably see a medical professional.  But this heavy metal detox drink can help you remove some of those metals for general detox purposes and get your body back into a healthier state.  And it tastes delicious, too!

Of course, the goal would be to keep heavy metals from accumulating as much moving forward.  So, let’s briefly discuss what heavy metal accumulation looks like, what it can do, and other steps you can take to bring your body into balance.

Effects of Heavy Metal Exposure

Metals that are known as heavy metals can be poisonous and highly damaging. The following heavy metals can be toxic: Mercury, Lead, Arsenic, Cadmium, Aluminum, Nickel, Uranium, Thallium.

Additional terms include manganese, iron, lithium, zinc, and calcium (Sometimes excessive amounts of vital minerals can be toxic).

Arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury are just a few examples of toxic metals that are exceedingly prevalent, have no positive impact on the body, and are among the leading causes of noncommunicable chronic illness.

Heavy metals get stuck in our fat cells, making them harder for the body to eliminate.  They can also accumulate in our organs and body tissues and cross into the blood-brain barrier, causing neurological issues.  Degenerative skeletal, muscular, and brain functions may result from prolonged exposure to heavy metals.

The good news is that metals or minerals can be bound through chelation and then expelled from the body. There are nutrients in foods that can do this. That’s why drinking certain juices and smoothies can aid in removing accumulated heavy metals from the body.  Let’s examine the components of the following heavy metal detox smoothie recipe.

Heavy Metal Detox Recipe Ingredients

Moringa – can bind to heavy metals and help remove them from the body and is one of the best-known treatments for arsenic poisoning.  It’s incredibly high in rare antioxidants and is known for its ability to support the kidneys and liver, quash inflammation, and detoxify the body.

Ginger – Most detox plans include ginger because it helps detoxify the body by promoting sweating, digestion, and circulation.  It can effectively aid in removing waste and toxins accumulated in the colon, liver, and other organs.

Cilantro – Strong chelating characteristics have been identified in cilantro leaves, which bind to heavy metals that are eliminated from the body through our excretory system. Other neurotoxins, such as phthalates, plasticizers, and pesticides, can be detoxified with cilantro.

Parsley – super antioxidant removes heavy metals from the body and increases glutathione production.

Cinnamon – Binds to and eliminates heavy metals and reduces oxidative stress and inflammation in animal studies.

Papaya – High in vitamin C, which has been shown to reduce the damage caused by heavy metal toxicity. Papaya also stimulates digestion and healthy enzyme production.  It’s also high in sulfur and other antioxidants and can remove heavy metals from organs like the liver.

Orange – high in antioxidants and detox vitamins like vitamin C.

Chia seeds – a good source of fiber to help pull toxins out of the body through the stool.

Bone broth – replaces essential minerals possibly lost due to chelation.

Let’s put it all together and blend it all about!

How to Use This Remedy

You can drink this smoothie as often as you want.  That’s the beautiful thing about using food as medicine, it won’t hurt you!  The more you drink it, the more detoxing you’ll do.  For the best results, drink your heavy metal detox drink on an empty stomach and wait at least one hour before eating anything else or taking medication.  Detoxing is the opposite of nourishing your body.   Both cannot be done simultaneously; your body needs time to finish the “drawing” process.

Here are a few recommended heavy metal detox vitamins you can take with your smoothie to enhance the detox process. Chlorella –  4-8 capsules a day (or according to package directions); Vitamin C – 3000 mg. daily; Cilantro Tincture – 2 x a day; Shilajit – 100-500 mg daily on an empty stomach; Milk thistle tea – 2 x a day; Probiotics – 1 x daily.

Thank you! I adapted the tonic to a broth with beef bones, chicken broth, ginger, moringa, sour sop leaves, bay leaves, orange peel and lemon peel. Feeling better to have a piece of toast and tea. Ty very much I do appreciate your emails of encouragement. Aloha, Kaliko

I Absolutely cannot stomach the taste of cilantro! It taste like dish soap🤮. Is there anything that is equally beneficial or close in this recipe for heavy metal detox?

My theory is that most people who dislike cilantro (myself included) avoid it because of the powerful chelation properties it contains & subconsciously avoid it to spare themselves the potential for an intense detox reaction… I would just up the parsley if you really can’t stomach it… but as the recipe states, it’s just a “handful” so add as little or as much as you can handle and most of the other ingredients will overpower the taste 🙂

My understanding is that there are some people who genetically taste cilantro differently from the rest of us. For most of us it tastes like fresh green; for some, like soap.

I like this recipe and plan to try it. My question is when you say empty stomach, would that only be in the morning first thing or could it be at night? How many hours does it take since a previous meal for the stomach to be empty? Also I am vegan so can water be substituted or do you recommend another liquid? When done periodically should it be done for a few days every few months or just one day a few time a year?

Is this drink only for 1 person? I enjoyed it however very thick and a lot if for 1 person.

I ordered 2 books at the same time. I recieved the lost book of herbal meds but i never recieved the other book. I dont recall the name on it. But it was offered to me when i got the first one. How can i talk to someone about this?

Hi Kim,

Thank you for supporting our work!
An email has been sent to you with all the necessary details regarding your order.

Many blessings and good health!

Sounds great, thank you! I had just tried the detox with DE, as recommended in your book and as I did a couple years ago, but my stomach didn’t like it this time, so now I look forward to trying this new recipe!

can this smoothie be prepared without papaya? can’t find papaya this time of the year where I live. Thanks

Have you looked in the frozen food area for the papaya?

I love this recipe and made it with grass-fed bone broth that I made from bison and beef bones. I was surprised at how refreshing and tasty it was. I did not peel the orange segments and so taste the pith a bit but I still like it. Thank you for all that you do. I have made my first tincture and hope to do so much more. Bless you and your work!

Do you use the whole orange, including the rind?

While detoxing, do I need to stay home after drinking this? Is it a bowel detox and/or sweat detox? Has anyone has stomach discomfort?

This sounds amazing and I’m going to try this smoothie. One question I have I’m vegan so bone broth is not going to work what can I sub for it? I was thinking coconut water?

Is there a substitute for bone broth? I’m vegan
