You’ve probably heard that you should drink eight glasses of water a day to stay hydrated. But, there’s actually no scientific evidence that this is the right amount of water for everyone. How much water you actually need to drink each day depends on several factors, including:

  • Climate/weather – If you live in a warm climate or it’s a hot day, you’ll need to drink more water
  • Weight – People who weigh more typically need more water

Tap Water

Tap water comes from large reservoirs or wells. Depending on where you live, it may or may not be safe to drink. The quality and content of tap water vary greatly in different places. It can contain minerals like potassium, iron, phosphorus, and zinc. It may also have fluoride or chlorine added, depending on the local municipal water treatment protocols.
