What Happens When You Mix Garlic With Apple Cider Vinegar
Garlic and apple cider vinegar are two ingredients that can make you wrinkle your nose, much less when combined. But did you know that although apple cider has its own distinctive smell, it can neutralize the stench of garlic?
The acidity of ACV, which is similar to that of regular vinegar and lemon, can break down the sulfuric compounds in garlic. Some people take ACV after meals to reduce garlic breath, although its results are merely anecdotal evidence.
However, what is truly remarkable is the numerous health benefits of ACV and garlic infusion, including the promotion of proper digestion.
Benefits of Garlic and Apple Cider Infusion
Raw garlic, by itself, is a powerful spice, purported to be nature’s antibiotic. However, not many people like eating raw garlic. It can burn the mouth and cause heartburn or digestive issues, not to mention the garlicky smell and body odor it produces.
Heating or cooking garlic is an option, but heat may reduce its health benefits.
Mixing raw garlic with other foods or fermenting it in apple cider vinegar is an excellent way to mask its pungent taste and smell.
ACV reduces raw garlic’s sting, making it more tolerable for consumption while retaining and boosting its medicinal properties.
Caution: Undiluted ACV may cause stomach irritation and damage to tooth enamel. Always dilute it in water or any beverage and avoid excessive use.
Digestive Aid
People with low stomach acidity significantly benefit from garlic ACV infusion. Most fermented products contain probiotics, which promote a healthy gut microbiome.
Taking a teaspoon of diluted garlic and ACV may slightly increase stomach acid and stimulate digestive enzymes, leading to improved digestion.
enzymes, leading to improved digestion.
But garlic and ACV aren’t the only ones that help. Other herbs known to soothe the gut lining and restore balance include Reishi, Turkey Tail, Plantain, Slippery Elm, Marshmallow, and Lion’s Mane — powerful allies when you’re dealing with inflammation, microbiome damage, or the aftermath of antibiotics or parasites.
Immune Boost
Experimental results on garlic reveal its powerful immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory properties. Allicin, the compound responsible for garlic’s pungent taste, activates cells that regulate the immune system and help prevent the progression of certain illnesses.
Apple cider vinegar, on the other hand, acts on the immune cells in the digestive area.
Garlic-ACV combination may significantly enhance immune function to prevent illnesses and accelerate recovery.
Relieve Respiratory Illness
A garlic-ACV infusion may alleviate colds, seasonal allergies, and other respiratory symptoms. It reduces inflammation and helps build immune defences to combat the common cold and flu. It can help relieve congestion, prevent the onset of infection, and prevent it from worsening.
However, the infusion only works in milder symptoms. If you have a persistent cough and fever that lasts more than 48 hours, you likely require a more potent antibiotic to effectively treat the symptoms.
May Boost the Energy Levels
By supporting overall well-being, garlic-ACV infusion also eases fatigue and promotes exercise endurance. Although it does not directly affect energy, its effect on blood sugar and metabolism may cumulatively impact energy production in the body.
Ongoing studies on the anti-fatigue properties of garlic may quantify its impact on stress and fatigue reduction, supporting the promising claims.
I used to rely on coffee and sugar just to make it through the day—until I discovered a wild remedy that works even better. When your adrenals are drained, stimulants only push you deeper into exhaustion. But deep in the woods, herbalists have long used a plant so powerful that it’s earned the nickname Redbull of the Woods. Just a few sips, and you feel recharged—without the crashes, without the burnout.
The best part? You don’t have to rely on store-bought stimulants filled with chemicals and artificial ingredients. This natural energy booster is something you can make yourself—if you know where to find it and how to prepare it.
That’s exactly what I learned inside The Lost Remedies Academy, where real, hands-on herbal wisdom is taught step by step. Now, I never worry about energy slumps—because I have nature’s remedy in my back pocket.
Reduce Inflammation
Garlic and apple cider vinegar help relieve joint pains and general body aches. This tonic is rich in anti-inflammatory properties that reduce pain, stiffness, and swelling. You may take it orally to ease internal inflammation or apply the infusion as a poultice on the affected area.
Garlic and ACV infusion contains antioxidants that combat oxidative stress, which contributes to systemic inflammation.
May Regulate Blood Pressure
The effect of ACV and garlic on blood pressure remains inconclusive due to the limited number of studies and evidence. However, garlic has been traditionally used as an effective herbal remedy for high blood pressure.
Allicin relaxes and expands the blood vessels to improve blood flow to and from the heart. Although the effect of adding ACV to garlic needs further studies, it is initially believed to reduce the reactions associated with raw garlic, such as acid reflux.
Support Heart Health
Garlic and apple cider vinegar are also excellent tonics for lowering the cholesterol level. A low dose of garlic, either dried or fresh, may reduce total serum cholesterol level in about 1 to 3 months, according to a meta-analysis.
Furthermore, apple cider vinegar contributes to the regulation of lipid profiles, reducing serum cholesterol and glycemic parameters. The acetic acid in ACV and sulfuric compounds in garlic are beneficial in reducing plaque buildup and improving blood flow to the heart.
If your diet still includes refined sugars, or your lifestyle hasn’t exactly been heart-friendly — garlic and vinegar might not cut it.

Weight Loss
Despite no scientific research to support such a claim, beliefs suggest that ACV may aid in weight loss. The acetic acid component may delay gastric emptying and maintain blood sugar levels to decrease cravings while increasing satiety.
Garlic further supports weight loss by improving digestion and boosting metabolism. Consuming both garlic and ACV simultaneously may suppress appetite, potentially aiding in better weight management.
Detoxification
Raw garlic and garlic extracts are antioxidants that detoxify the body from damaging free radicals.
Raw and unfiltered apple cider vinegar is also an effective antioxidant due to its polyphenol content. ACV contains more polyphenols, such as catechin and gallic acid, compared to apple juice.
An infusion of garlic and ACV is a powerful cleanser that helps flush out toxins and prevent cell damage. When used appropriately, it may reduce the risk of metabolic diseases and certain types of cancer.
Parasite Cleanse
Garlic is a natural parasite cleanser traditionally used in deworming and reducing the risk of re-infection. ACV contributes to the effectiveness of garlic by promoting a healthy gut microbiome and building its defenses against parasitic infections.
Garlic and apple cider vinegar tonic may interfere with the parasite enzymes and inhibit their growth and development.
You may take half a cup of this tonic diluted in water to dispel intestinal parasites. Cut down to a teaspoon after each meal thereafter. There is no specific timeframe for taking garlic ACV to treat parasites, but limit its consumption until the condition improves.
⚠️ Don’t Let This Mistake Ruin the Remedy
Garlic and vinegar can help your gut — but only if you infuse them correctly.
One wrong step — like overheating, chopping too early, or using the wrong container — and you could cancel out all the benefits.
And that’s just this simple recipe.
What about salves, tinctures, oils, or syrups?
It’s shockingly easy to mess those up too — making them too weak, too strong, or even unsafe.
That’s why Dr. Nicole Apelian created The Lost Remedies Academy — to guide you through making powerful, time-tested natural remedies without any guesswork. You’ll learn:
- Exactly how to infuse, extract, dose, and store every type of remedy
- What the most dangerous mistakes are — and how to avoid them

But the right knowledge? That lasts a lifetime.
Garlic and Apple Cider Infusion
Preparing the garlic-ACV is straightforward, as it only needs two ingredients: garlic and apple cider vinegar.
Fresh garlic is preferred over dried because of its concentrated allicin compound. Lightly crush or chop the garlic to release the allicin while it infuses.
For apple cider vinegar, we recommend using raw and unfiltered ACV labelled “with the mother”, which has a cloudy appearance. This type of ACV retains its essential nutrients during fermentation and is more effective when used in herbal preparations.
Ingredients
- About 4 to 5 heads garlic
- 2 cups raw and unfiltered apple cider vinegar
Steps
- Peel and roughly chop or slice the garlic cloves.
- In a clean glass jar, add one cup of the sliced garlic.
- Pour in two cups of apple cider vinegar. You can adjust the amount by adding two parts apple cider vinegar for every one part garlic.
- Seal the jar and store it in a clean, dry place at room temperature. Place a clean piece of plastic wrap between the jar and lid to prevent metal leaching.
- Shake the jar occasionally as it infuses for about 1 to 2 weeks or longer if you want a stronger infusion. You may use the infusion as it is with the garlic or strain it to extract only the liquid.
To use: Take one teaspoon of the infusion and dilute it in a beverage, taking it after each meal. For common cold, cough, or fatigue, mix 2 tbsp garlic-ACV infusion with warm water and add a teaspoon of honey. Take it three times a day until you begin to feel better.
🔻 Gut First. Always.
Of all the benefits listed above… the most powerful one is what this infusion can do for your gut.
But let’s be honest — not everyone has time to wait two weeks for fermentation.
Or the desire to drink apple cider vinegar daily.
And even if you do… it’s just two ingredients. Good ones, sure — but far from a complete gut solution.
If your digestion’s been off…
If bloating, irregularity, or post-parasite symptoms keep coming back…
You need something stronger.
The Balanced Gut Tincture was made specifically for that.
It blends Reishi, Turkey Tail, Plantain, Slippery Elm, Marshmallow, and Lion’s Mane — each chosen to soothe gut inflammation, repair the intestinal lining, and help rebuild a healthy, resilient microbiome.
